Summer Away Day 2025

Summer Away Day 2025

Earlier this month, we had our Summer team building day. Every year, the senior management team organise a day for our 50+ staff members to come together in an exciting environment.

This has shown to have so many benefits. One of the biggest reasons that we do this is for the mental wellbeing of our co-workers. Everyday, our team are dealing with distressing situations and taking on the weight of people’s problems and we wouldn’t change that. We love being an ear for people who are struggling, and an advocate for helping them sort some of their problems. We spend hours fighting in their corner with suppliers and benefit tribunals, and it’s worth it, but it’s really important to make sure that our staff have the support they need to deal with the issues they hear that they can’t solve.

We have been working with 7 Level 7 Energy to provide our staff with the wellbeing support and EQ tools that they need for their jobs and in their own lives. And having a day outside in the, thankfully, sunny weather where everyone can come together is another great way to put a smile on our team’s faces.

A further great thing about our staff away day is that our team is spread across three counties, two offices and many work-from-home offices, so it’s great to be able to organise a day for everyone to meet up. No matter what the activity, we make sure to split into groups that mix-up the usual working teams and allow everyone to catch up with people they perhaps haven’t seen in weeks. This helps create and strengthen new friendships as well as gaining new support systems within their day-to-day work with new people to bounce ideas off.

This year, everyone was catered for with a team sports day, crafting session, food and an energy efficiency packed afternoon of quizzes and mini wind turbine construction. The anonymous feedback from the team was very positive and really got the creative juices flowing for new ideas that we can use within Act on Energy to better support our residents and staff.
