ECO Install Response

ECO Install Response

We are very concerned to read today’s National Audit Office (NAO) report which has criticised failed insulation installs carried out under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO).

It’s essential that any faults are put right as soon as possible so that householders are confident that their homes will be safe and warm.

THE NAO recommendations say that the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) must “take clear responsibility for its consumer levy funded schemes” and that “setting out a timetable for identifying and remediating other properties affected by poor-quality installations of external and internal wall insulation under ECO, and setting out the process for how households can get the work remediated, including in cases where they are struggling to engage the original installer” needs to happen.

Not only do the works need to be put right – but we need robust reassurance that future works are fully compliant.

We know that installing energy efficiency measures – especially insulation – are vital in tackling cold, damp homes.  And the confidence that works are carried out to high standards are essential to rolling out programmes.

If you think you have been affected by any ECO insulation works, the energy regulator, Ofgem, has established this guidance and complaints process.
