Top Award for local experts in midst of energy crisis

Act on Energy, is celebrating a top award at the recent Regional Energy Awards ceremony.

The local charity has been awarded 2024 Regional Consultancy of the Year for its expertise in delivering outstanding consultancy services to a range of partners and organisations right across the Midlands.

As well as partnering all of the local Authorities in Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands to provide expert energy advice for their residents (the last 12 months has seen unprecedented demand due the ongoing cost of living crisis), the charity has also expanded its consultancy arm with other statutory bodies and commercial organisations.

A new partnership established with Coventry Building Society has supported their corporate responsibility programme by helping residents across the City who were struggling with high  energy bills. As experts in the field, Act on Energy provided a bespoke solution to tackle fuel poverty across the city. As well as energy efficiency advice, more than £100,000 has been shared with residents to help with ongoing energy bill and debt payments, alongside repairs and replacement of boiler and heating systems.

And in another exciting development with Warwick District Council for their ‘able to pay’ residents, Act on Energy is providing expert retrofit advice to residents who want to embark on their energy efficiency journey – but don’t know where to start, or who to trust. Qualified advisors given impartial advice as well as customer journey support. Other local authorities are now looking to replicate this model.

With over 25 years of supporting people with their energy needs, it’s no surprise that Act on Energy is now expanding their remit beyond the West Midlands area – including new Consultancy contracts with Lambeth Borough Council and West Lancashire for their Social housing Decarbonisation Fund.

And in Coventry, Act on Energy has been appointed as chair for the Low Emissions Pathway for the city council as part of their strategic partnership with energy supplier E.ON.  This is a crucial role to lead the way to net zero goals, bringing together not only energy expertise but considerable know how when engaging all parties involved in the process, ranging from residents, officers and local and national government stakeholders.
