It is recommended that you spend 7 hours of self-study on this course, but this is self-paced through the online learner platform.
This course will be assessed through short answer unit questions, and does not include an end-of-course examination.
You will gain an understanding of how essential concepts, procedure and roles relating to domestic retrofitting. You will also gain critical knowledge of PAS 2035 standards and the whole-house approach, equipping you with the skills needed to assess, plan and implement energy efficiency improvements.
You will have to complete the course before 30 June 2026.
All course materials will be accessible through the online learner platform, including Historic England's Understanding Historic Buildings - A Guide to Good Recording Practice, as well as specification and guidance on BSI PAS 2035:2023 Retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency.
There is no pre-course eligibility criteria. This course would be suitable to people interested in starting your journey into the retrofit sector and for individuals already active in retrofit or the broader UK housing sector.
After passing this course, you will have gained a Level 3 Award in the Introduction to Domestic Retrofit which will provide a valuable foundation for advancing your career and contributing to high-quality, sustainable housing projects. This award will benefit many roles within construction and building management, as well as enhancing your 'green skills' profile.
