
This comprehensive qualification combines the skills and knowledge required to become both a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) and a Retrofit Assessor under PAS 2035. Learners will gain a deep understanding of how to assess the energy performance of existing homes, produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), and carry out detailed retrofit assessments that inform whole-house retrofit projects. The course covers construction types, building services, occupancy, condition surveys, and data collection techniques - providing a complete foundation for working within the energy efficiency and retrofit sectors.

Graduates are qualified to undertake both EPC and retrofit assessment work, positioning themselves for employment with TrustMark-registered retrofit providers and accredited energy assessment schemes.
By purchasing this course, you are also eligible to claim a free place on either Level 2 Award in Awareness of the Principles of Non-domestic Retrofit and PAS 2038 OR Level 3 Award in Introduction to Domestic Retrofit.

In addition to 8 days of classroom tutorials, you will assess three properties and spend around 20 hours completing portfolio tasks.
This course will be assessed through examining portfolio evidence, property assessments, your case study, role play and module questions. This does not include an end-of-course examination.
You will gain a deep understanding of how to assess the energy performance of existing homes, produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), and carry out detailed retrofit assessments that inform whole-house retrofit projects. Upon successful completion, you will be qualified to undertake both EPC and retrofit assessment work.
You will have to complete the course before 30 June 2026.
This course will utilise the RdSap Methodology Manual, RdSap Conventions as well as Licenced Assessor Software.
You will need a functional level of English, Maths and IT skills to be able to make the most of this course. It is suitable individuals seeking a professional career in domestic energy assessment and retrofit assessment, or for building managers, surveyors, designers and consultants seeking to broaden their understanding of retrofit standards.
After passing this course, you will have gained a Level 3 Certificate in DEA (DEA) and a Level 3 Certificate in Retrofit Assessment. This will make you qualified to undertake EPC and retrofit assessment work.
