Warm Front

In order to make UK homes more energy efficient, the government has set up a scheme called Warm Front. It is designed to help people who may not be able to afford home improvements to increase energy efficiency and save on fuel bills.

Items which you can apply for funding for are below:

• Loft insulation
• Cavity wall insulation
• Hot water tank insulation
• Draught proofing
• Gas room heating with thermostats
• Central heating for gas, electric and oil fired systems
• Converting from a solid fuel fire to a modern glass front fire
• Timer controls for space heating and electric water heaters

You can also phone the Warm Front team at any time for advice and receive two free energy efficient light bulbs.

Warm Front is a government scheme which helps those who need heating and insulation. The scheme is available in England and there are similar schemes in Scotland and Wales and it has funding confirmed until 31st March 2011.

The scheme offers heating and insulation improvements up to the value of £3500 for gas central heating and up to £6000 for oil central heating systems.

To check whether you can take advantage of a Warm Front grant, you will need to be receiving one or more of the following:

• Working Tax Credit (income less than £15,460)
• Child Tax Credit (income less than £15,460)
• Attendance Allowance
• Disability Living Allowance
• Income Support (to include a disability premium)
• Housing Benefit (to include a disability premium)
• Council Tax Benefit (to include a disability premium)
• War Disablement Pension (to include a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance)
• Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (to include a constant attendance allowance)
• Have a child under 16 or be pregnant with income support, council tax benefit, housing benefit, jobseekers allowance or pension credit
• Be 60 or over with pension credit, council tax benefit, housing benefit or income based jobseekers allowance

• Book an appointment
• An assessor will visit your home and provide a recommendation for work which can be undertaken.
