Sustainable Energy

Sustainable Energy pages:

Sustainable energy is a term with which we are all familiar, but it is also one which can be obscure and hard to define. Everyone today is aware of climate change and how it is affecting the world in terms of both nature and humanity and the subject of sustainable energy is now so broad it encompasses many facets. Essentially the term covers the following aspects:

  • Energy saving
  • Renewable Energy
  • Recycling

These three aspects of sustainable energy all play a part in ensuring we impact climate change in the right way and seek to reduce carbon emissions in as much of our daily lives as we can. It is about using the energy we have wisely and maximising its potential but also looking towards creating self sufficient ways to source energy for our homes over and over again, without impacting the environment any further.

If everyone implemented just one or two of the recommendations in each of these three aspects then the UK could see a dramatic decrease in the demand for energy. There are simple actions such as insulation and draught proofing, solar panels and recycling everything you can, which will make a difference. However one of the ways which may help to encourage the supply of more renewable energy to our homes is by looking at your energy supplier.

Nearly all energy companies now offer a green tariff which is often a little more expensive but does support the renewable energy industry and encourage these companies to invest more in the technologies which will eventually become our only source of energy supply. Fossil fuels will eventually run out and in order for the UK to maintain the supply for the demand, much of the energy we need, will come from renewable sources.

Our green Energy page explains in detail how green tariffs work and who supplies what kinds of energy. It is important to carefully investigate what kinds of energy your green package encompasses - it is not as simple as it sounds.
