Sustainable Business pages:
Whether your business is small or large there are many ways to help reduce carbon emissions and look towards becoming more sustainable. Many local communities have groups and committees who look at new and innovative ways for businesses to become more energy efficient without it costing the earth.
There are many recycling schemes for businesses and many more options to buy office equipment and furniture from sustainable sources. These small actions can have a very positive effect on how a business runs and how it is viewed by its customers. With so much focus on greener practices, businesses can now greatly benefit from sourcing sustainable products, producing sustainable products or services and having a clear green policy.
The government also introduced a climate change levy which is a tax on the use of energy by businesses. The levy is offset with discounts in employer's national insurance contributions against energy efficient schemes and practices adopted by businesses. More information on the levy can be found at by clicking here.
For many businesses a significant proportion of energy is wasted through bad practices such as leaving things on when they are not being used. To combat this, Act on Energy has a scheme called EESEE which targets the employees to encourage them to be more energy conscious at home. Staff who get into the habit of saving energy at home will also expect to save energy at work. To find out more about our EESEE scheme call us on 01789 842898.
For information on how you can save energy and become more sustainable in business see our Energy Efficiency for Business page.
EESEE - Energy Efficiency Scheme for Employers and Employees
Act on Energy have successfully run EESEE for a number of years in conjunction with local businesses including Jaguar, Landrover and Unipart. EESEE works well when it is run in conjunction with Switch It Off and can also be used to launch your company's energy and environmental strategies. The aim of EESEE is to raise awareness of energy efficiency measures amongst employees so that they take the message home and reduce energy both at home and in the workplace. Further information on EESEE is available from our leaflet which can be downloaded here.
