Act on Energy cooperate with Co-operative Energy
On 12 February 2012 we will add a link on our site so that you can switch energy supplier to Co-operative Energy. They were the first to announce a reduction in energy bills in December 2011 and are the only one to reduce both gas and electricty. Why not try them out and get an extra reduction?
Free Monthly Energy Advice Surgeries being held throughout Warwickshire and Worcestershire
During 2012, we are holding a series of energy advice surgeries in conjunction with local councils, to help people take control of their heating and energy use in order to reduce their bills and stay warm.
Advice surgeries are being held in the following local authorities: Warwick, Stratford, Rugby, Worcester, Redditch, Wyre Forest, Wychavon, Malvern, Bromsgrove.

Citizens Advice Centre Big Energy Week
CAB centres across the country are helping people to reduce their energy bills. This includes help to switch to a cheaper supplier and making sure you are receiving all of the benefits you're entitled to.
The BIG Energy week runs from 16th to 20th January 2012.
Powering the Future event in Worcester
Act on Energy will be attending the “Powering the Future: Towards sustainable energy” event at Worcester Guildhall on Saturday 17th September from 9.30 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. The event will inform people about opportunities for increasing the sustainability of energy production and use and is open to everyone. Big rise in fuel poverty
More than a fifth of UK households faced fuel poverty in 2010.
According to figures published by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, 5.5 million households were defined as being in fuel poverty in 2010, an increase of 22% from 2009.
This number is expected to have risen since then, after a number of recent price rises from gas and electricity suppliers.
A household is defined as being in fuel poverty when they spend more than 10% of their income on household energy.
Act on Energy provide independent advice and consultancy on tackling fuel poverty and its causes.
EPC's legally required for holiday lets from 30th June
From 30th June 2011 a Domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will legally be required for holiday lets, where the property is rented out for a combined total of 4 months or more in any 12 month period. Warm Front open for new applications from 14th April 2011
After receiving additional government funding Warm Front has confirmed that it is able to start taking on new applications.
In order to qualify, households must:
- Receive one of a range of means-tested benefits and
- Be vulnerable on grounds of age (over 60 or with a child under 5) or with some form of disability and
- Either own or privately rent a home with a particularly low energy efficiency rating of below SAP 55 (confirmed by survey)
Amongst the changes from the old scheme:
- The £300 Rebate Scheme is no longer available
- Benefit Entitlement Checks are no longer available
- LPG boilers will now be available in rural areas as a new system
