Insulation Contractors

Insulation is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to save money, energy and the environment. Most of the homes we live in are inadequately insulated, whether this is in the walls or roof space. Up to 60% of the heat in our home can be lost through poorly insulated walls and roofs which effectively means we are throwing our money away and heating the air outside our homes.

Energy prices have almost doubled in the last 2 years and are set to do the same again in the next two years, so it is essential that we all consider how well our home is insulated. For most people, a simple check can tell us what we need to do to keep the heat in our homes this winter.

Once it has been established that insulation is needed it is important to either find a contractor to do the work or make sure you are capable of doing the work yourself.

For loft insulation, much of the work can be done by ourselves but roof spaces can be difficult to navigate and a trusted installer will be able to do the job correctly and relatively cheaply. Many insulation manufacturers have trusted networks of companies who will supply and install the insulation you need.

For information on the different types of insulation you can install see our insulation pages.

Some of the most reliable manufacturers can be sourced through builders merchants. Most DIY stores stock insulation but it is essential that you research the type of insulation you want. There are many eco-friendly products now on the market and although slightly more expensive, they may be more desirable.

Cavity wall insulation involves injecting the space between your walls with an insulating material. Although quite a quick job it is important to ensure a reputable company is performing the work. If you apply for a government grant the installation will be carried out by an approved contractor.
