Home Improvement Grants

If you are a homeowner, landlord or tenant and there are repairs and improvements which need to be undertaken there are two main agencies which can help you:

  • The Home Improvement Trust
  • Home Improvements Agency

Both of these agencies work with your local council and you can speak to them about the help you might be eligible for with regard to repairs and improvements.

The Home Improvement Trust runs a scheme called House Proud and it caters for people who may struggle to manage building work or disruption. The scheme will help anyone who is:

  • 60 or over
  • Any age living with a disabled person
  • Any age and disabled

The House Proud Scheme

The House Proud Scheme will:

  • Advise and give technical help on repairs you might need in your home
  • Recommend improvements and adaptations
  • Source trades people and approved installers to do the work
  • Advise on any finance you may need
  • Organise no-risk home equity release

The Home Improvement Trust Scheme

Foundations is the organisation which runs the Home Improvement Trust Scheme and its aim is to ensure that vulnerable people maintain their independence and improve current living conditions for those in need.

The scheme provides advice and funding for people who need help with home improvements and repairs or who may need to improve their comfort and security at home.
