Energy Saving Grants
The government is focusing on ensuring every home is more energy efficient in order to help reduce fuel bills and make homes more environmentally friendly. There are many private and public funded schemes available to home owners to help take steps towards a more energy efficient home.
Warm Front is the government‘s scheme to help those receiving benefits or who are on low incomes to install better heating and insulation systems. This will provide services to the value of £2,700 although there can be a considerable wait before it’s installed and you may be asked for a contribution to the cost of heating improvements.
Energy Suppliers also provide grants in the form of subsidised insulation schemes. These schemes are available to anyone regardless of means and represent a reduction of around 50% in the cost to householders. They also provide free insulation for those on qualifying means tested benefits and in addition, they currently offer free insulation to anyone over 70.
Visit our insulation grant pages for more information on current schemes available.
Some local councils may offer energy efficiency grants to help people in the community attain a more energy efficient and environmentally friendly home although these will almost certainly be means tested.
